so i’ve seen this post go around before, but i absolutely fucking lost it today when i saw it on my dash. so here, just in case white people have forgotten how well represented they are in the Disney franchise i made you a picture of all the beautiful white Disney girls you have and have had to look up to all your lives. thats not even all of them. Hell your even getting a new one soon! (not to metion every fucking live action character)
half of the princesses of color are racist caricatures, and Atlantian isn’t a race or an ethnicity, and Tiana was a fucking frog for more than half of the fucking film.

I know I’ve reblogged stuff like this before, but the image set is so popular it bears repitition.

So to repeat: you don’t actually have great representation if you have 5-10 WoC and 1000 white women. And representation isn’t about just being there, either, though that’s a big part of it in terms of what this post is purporting. It’s also about how you’re represented, and all movies with PoC in them have some troubling racial component, some more than others. 

And it shouldn’t even have to be said again but yeah Ariel? Is white. Half fish, half white woman. Who turns completely into a white woman. You are literally comparing PoC to animals if the fish part is what matters here. Omg mixed race relationship still dying that even one person found that worthy to reblog

Also, let’s not ignore the fact that we have pretty much done the token way of diversity i.e. one Chinese, one Black, one Indian, etc. God forbid you have two black princesses.

And that comment about Kida and using the word ethnic seems off to me.

yeah, really good points! Just so everyone knows there is a lot wrong with this post and the first person hit a lot of things but like you can find a lot of “gems” beyond what everyone covered in text.

Yeah, see, THIS is a trigger. Something that prompts a horrible flashback that makes someone go into a literal panic attack. It is NOT something that makes you slightly uncomfortable, so can we all just stop tossing that word around like it’s nothing.

Also, can we talk about how Felix dealt with it? He NEVER used that word again (only once in front of Ralph, never by her), there was never any talk about how she could get over it, and in their wedding they all made plans to help her with her paranoia by recognising her fears and showing she was safe by pointing guns at the window and having extra security.
